Global Exchange Conference Offers Dose of Inspiration

In a treatment industry that cannot remain static, its most important gatherings of professionals also must adjust to changing times. Attendees of The Global Exchange Conference 2023 will experience this when they convene in person in November, at an event committed to a mission of care, connection, collaboration and change.

Attendees will be able to apply these pillars of learning to their own self-care as well as to the well-being of the patients they serve, while exploring this year’s conference theme: Discover Who You Are Meant to Be. Event organizers are as committed to helping attendees discover their place in the treatment community as they are to sharing knowledge that informs high-quality treatment.

As a supporting sponsor of the Nov. 12-15 conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, we at Sigmund Software recently spoke with leaders of Exchange Events, the nonprofit organization behind the Global Exchange Conference. Exchange Events was founded in 2021 with an advisory board of industry leaders, all dedicated to one common mission: At a time when behavioral health professionals are feeling the strain of burgeoning caseloads and historic impacts from patient trauma, facilitating professional gatherings in an environment that encourages meaningful interaction and personal wellness can create a ripple effect for patients and professionals nationwide.

Vice President of Events Lizzy McGlothlin recalled her experience as a Global Exchange attendee at last year’s inaugural event prior to arriving at her current position. “I left inspired and excited, not overwhelmed,” she said. Now spearheading this year’s programming, McGlothlin aims to meet and exceed that experience, blending educational content with an interactive exhibit floor and enjoyable outings such as a VIP visit to Epcot Center.

Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to venture outside of their comfort zone during their conference experience. A leadership track will offer executives the chance to attend an administratively focused session in each time slot, but they also can learn invaluable lessons for managing their own team by attending some of the conference’s clinically focused sessions. These sessions can provide insight into what leaders’ frontline staff is experiencing, and how executive leadership can nurture a more supportive workplace back home.

The conference agenda and its potential 30 CEUs also reflects this desire to take a broader perspective. Speakers ranging from activist and presidential candidate Cornel West to singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette and actor and performer Demi Lovato will share illuminating life experiences, helping attendees to see their own role in the industry and the world in a deeper way. The conference themes are designed to give attendees ample opportunity to “do their own work,” the Global Exchange team shared with us.

Unlike conferences that adhere to one sector of the field or one school of thought in treatment, Global Exchange is committed to a more comprehensive approach. The ”change” component of its mission is described as an effort “to drive new perspectives in mental health and wellness through thought-provoking, inspirational presentations by renowned leaders in the field.”

Global Exchange is driven to change the way leaders in the industry gather. Its exhibit floor will emphasize active interaction, drawing in attendees with opportunities to mingle with colleagues over coffee or receive a relaxing chair massage. Opportunities to do deep healing work with industry icons will be offered alongside practical opportunities such as a free legal clinic. As a whole, the conference will offer a rare combination of essential learning and plain ol’ fun, a memorable experience meant to be shared by a group attending from your organization.

We invite you to join us at what promises to be a unique experience of learning, industry collaboration and personal growth.
